The Client
An American outdoor cooking brand built for adventure
Camp Chef is an American outdoor cooking brand specializing in equipment designed to bring people together through food and outdoor experiences.
From outdoor grills and smokers to portable cooking systems and accessories, Camp Chef serves customers who value versatility, performance and quality in their outdoor cooking equipment.
At the time of the project, Camp Chef was part of Vista Outdoor's wider brand portfolio. The brand subsequently became associated with Revelyst following changes to Vista Outdoor's business structure.
Vista Outdoor's broader portfolio included 41 brands, while the Salesforce Commerce Cloud migration program covered 21 brands, including Camp Chef.
Supporting ecommerce across these 21 brands required a scalable technical environment that could accommodate different product categories, customer journeys and brand-specific requirements.
The Challenge
Connecting a Complex Multi-Brand Ecommerce Ecosystem
As ecommerce operations expand across multiple brands, disconnected systems and inconsistent technical architectures can create barriers to efficiency and customer experience.
Vista Outdoor needed to modernise its digital commerce environment while supporting the requirements of 21 individual brands, including Camp Chef.
The transformation presented three key challenges.
1. Migrating Legacy Ecommerce Systems
Moving multiple brands to a shared Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment required managing complex data migrations, legacy systems and existing technical dependencies.
The solution needed to support individual brand requirements while establishing a more consistent enterprise ecommerce architecture.
2. Simplifying Multi-Brand Storefront Management
Managing different storefront configurations and technical requirements across multiple brands increased operational complexity.
Vista Outdoor needed a shared SFRA framework that would simplify ongoing administration and issue resolution without compromising the flexibility required by individual brands.
3. Connecting Critical Ecommerce Technologies
Outdated third-party integrations created additional complexity within the wider commerce ecosystem.
The program required Salesforce Commerce Cloud integration capabilities that could support customer engagement, marketing and verification experiences within the modernised environment.
The Solution
A Unified Commerce Architecture with Connected Capabilities
TCTG delivered Camp Chef's Salesforce Commerce Cloud migration as part of Vista Outdoor's wider program to consolidate 21 brands onto the Vista Master Realm within Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
The implementation combined a shared SFRA framework with third-party technology integrations, creating a more consistent foundation for ecommerce operations and customer engagement.
Establishing a Shared SFRA Foundation
TCTG migrated and launched Camp Chef within a common Storefront Reference Architecture framework, supporting a more standardised approach to storefront management.
By introducing greater architectural consistency, the shared environment helped simplify site administration, streamline issue resolution and reduce the complexity of managing multiple brand storefronts.
Integrating Technologies to Support the Customer Journey
Beyond the platform migration, the wider program incorporated Salesforce Commerce Cloud third-party integrations to extend the functionality of the ecommerce ecosystem.
ID.me – Customer Verification
Integration with ID.me supported customer verification capabilities within the digital commerce environment.
Yotpo – Customer Engagement
Yotpo integration supported customer engagement capabilities, helping connect commerce experiences with customer-generated content and marketing functionality.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud – Connected Marketing
Salesforce Marketing Cloud integration supported customer communications and marketing capabilities within the wider ecommerce ecosystem.
Together, these technologies helped create a more connected digital commerce foundation, supporting interactions across the customer journey.
Balancing Enterprise Consistency with Brand Flexibility
The shared architecture enabled Camp Chef to operate within a standardised enterprise commerce environment while accommodating its individual storefront requirements.
This approach helped Vista Outdoor simplify multi-brand storefront management without treating every brand as an identical ecommerce experience.
The Results
More Connected Commerce, Simplified Operations
The successful migration established a more consistent Salesforce Commerce Cloud foundation for Camp Chef and the wider Vista Outdoor portfolio.
- Greater Operational Efficiency The shared SFRA framework helped streamline storefront administration and simplify issue resolution, supporting more efficient ongoing platform management.
- A More Connected Customer Journey Integrations with ID.me, Yotpo and Salesforce Marketing Cloud extended the capabilities of the ecommerce environment, supporting customer verification, engagement and marketing experiences.
- Reduced Technical Complexity Consolidating the 21 brands onto a common architecture provided a more consistent approach to managing multiple storefronts and their technical requirements.
- A Scalable Foundation for Future Development The modernised Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment established a shared technical foundation capable of supporting evolving ecommerce requirements and continued digital development.
- Turning Ecommerce Complexity into Connected Customer Experiences For enterprise retailers, creating better customer experiences starts with the technology that powers them.
Disconnected systems, complex integrations and inconsistent storefront architectures can limit the ability to evolve digital commerce operations efficiently.
The Camp Chef project demonstrates how TCTG combines Salesforce Commerce Cloud migration expertise, multi-brand architecture and third-party integration capabilities to help retailers simplify their technology environments and support more connected shopping experiences.
By aligning enterprise-wide technical consistency with individual brand requirements, TCTG helps businesses build commerce platforms designed to evolve alongside their customers.
