Agentforce Commerce updates retailers should know

Rising consumer expectations, new channels and cost pressures mean you can no longer treat commerce as just a website. The latest release from Salesforce around Agentforce Commerce recognises that, and positions retailers to win by combining intelligent automation, deeper data connectivity and design for a seamless experience.

Empowering product discovery and relevance at scale

One of the standout announcements is the enhanced capability of the “Shopper Agent” experience. This now surfaces image-rich product carousels and lets end-users filter via multiple facets such as colour, style or category, all within a chat-based or conversational interface.

Salesforce recently announced their partnership with OpenAI and Stripe to build what they call “Instant Checkout” within ChatGPT, facilitating discovery through conversation and purchase in one flow. According to the press release, “By integrating Agentforce Commerce with Instant Checkout in ChatGPT, merchants can offer seamless, secure transactions at the moment of purchase intent while reducing integration costs and time to market.’’

For retail brands, that means moving beyond generic recommendation modules into a conversational, richer set of choices where product discovery becomes faster, more precise and far more likely to convert. As a SFCC and Agentforce certified agency, we've seen first‐hand how reducing friction in discovery drives conversion. You can discover how we helped retailers launch and scale on SFCC here.

Making payments and data flow smarter by design

Another key update is the ability to bring your own payment provider. For example, the integration framework now supports linking an existing Adyen account with Agentforce Commerce stores, without needing a full contract renegotiation.
Likewise, the new “Intelligence Connector” gives you richer access to commerce data (orders, onsite search, promotional effects) tying them back into your broader systems (service, marketing, CRM). Salesforce
As a retailer, you won’t necessarily have to rip out your payments stack but rather leverage what you already have, which can save you time and resources.

Unified commerce: store, online, mobile – all in sync

Retailers with a store footprint will appreciate the deeper POS enhancements. Now, Agentforce Commerce supports Android-based hardware from Zebra Technologies and real-time inventory management via mobile devices. The point-of-sale experience also now includes RFID-enabled cycle counts, meaning fewer back-office headaches and faster turnaround for store associates.
On the order management side, the system can now handle more complex routing. For instance, if one fulfilment centre cannot fulfil due to weather or disruption, the agentic logic can reroute orders dynamically. Salesforce

The result? A smooth brand-experience regardless of channel, and an easier operational management process - the kind of unified commerce that modern retail demands.

Advanced B2B capabilities for sellers of complexity

The updates also address B2B demands: the “Commerce Configurator” enables customers to self-service through complex product builds and quotation workflows. And there’s stronger support for subscription-based business models, enabling recurring revenue streams where once the architecture might have held you back.
For those retailers operating within B2C and B2B, this provides a huge advantage in adopting the same tech stack that works for either business models.

What this means for retailers right now

If you’re running SFCC or evaluating it, these updates to Agentforce Commerce raise the bar for what modern commerce looks like. They’re less about flashy new gadget-features, and more about shifting the operating model: smarter discovery, better data, flexible payments, unified commerce across channels and business models.

From an implementation perspective, this plays very nicely into what we often advise retailers to do: build with flexibility, ensure your data flows between systems, and prioritise the experience end-to-end. With these Agentforce enhancements, you have stronger tools to do that and to move faster than the competition.
